NEEDING BLOOD

Approximately 3000 people must donate blood each month for Blood Bank of Alaska to assure an adequate supply for patients in area hospitals. That's about 100 units of whole blood and plateletpheresis each day.

Statistics show that one out of every three people will need a blood transfusion during their lifetime. Last year, thousands of patients received the “gift of life” from our donors. Over 25,000 whole blood and plateletpheresis donations are made to the Blood Bank of Alaska each year.
