Why do YOU
donate blood?
Every blood donor donates blood for a reason, big or small.
Here is what one Alaskan blood donor has to say:
"In the Air Force, at that time, they would try to
encourage people to donate by giving them a half day off after
they donated. That was a nice thing, but the juice and cookies
and sense of satisfaction were all I needed. It was a special
day for me when I got my one-gallon pin. I guess it was then
that my habit started...Each time I completed another gallon
there has automatically been another gallon goal to attain.
Now it is a contest between myself and time." ~ John W.

New Year's Resolution
The need for blood in Alaska’s hospitals is real - for
patients with cancer, organ transplant recipients and for accident
victims. A single pint of blood could help save the lives of
up to three Alaskans.
The Blood Bank of Alaska is reminding Alaskans to make a resolution
to start a new habit this year - Give the Gift of Life by becoming
a regular blood donor. And there is no better time to start
than during January’s
National Volunteer Blood Donor Month.
The need for blood increases each year in Alaska and it is becoming
more critical than ever that people give on a regular basis.
Please make a commitment to save lives in your community.
Thank you for your support.
Take the HERO Snapshot Challenge - Earn
25 Extra HERO Points!
The rules are simple and open to all HERO blood donors! Be creative
with your ideas and have fun! Photos will be put on display
at your local community blood center as well posted on the Blood
Bank of Alaska website! Find
