How do you motivate people to take time out of their day to donate blood?
Many people were just plain interested in donating blood, but we will also be holding a pizza party lunch for anyone who is wearing their blood drive t-shirts.
What do you feel is the most powerful tool for promoting blood drives?
ADVERTISEMENT! Lots and lots of posters and announcements.
What advice would you give to a ‘new’ blood drive coordinator?
Advertise the blood drive a lot. I would even walk up to my teachers and such and tell them to sign-up to donate blood. We called everyone the day before to remind them of their time-slot (appointment) and to tell them to eat a healthy meal and drink plenty of fluids. Also, make sure you ask people a few standard questions; like if they got a tattoo or body piercing in the last year, etc.

Additional Comments
Everyone at school got pretty excited and a lot of people were really interested. Like I said before, take the initiative and walk up to people and ask if they want to donate. Sometimes they just don't know about it or are too busy to come and sign up.
