IMMEDIATELY
• Confirm blood drive dates and hours with BBA Community Coordinator.
• Check school calendar to avoid conflicts with other activities.
• Reserve blood drive site (i.e. library, gym, parking for
LIFEmobile, etc.).
• Begin assembly of committee group to help promote blood
drive and recruit donors.
6 WEEKS BEFORE BLOOD DRIVE
• Confirm location with Blood Bank of Alaska Community Coordinator
• Hold committee meeting to establish target dates, donor
goals, and answer questions.
4 WEEKS BEFORE BLOOD DRIVE
• Recruitment committee meets to discuss sign-up tables schedule,
hours, locations, and promotion.
• Contact BBA Community Coordinator to discuss and assist
with assembly/class/recruitment presentation.
• Review donor pre-screening and donation requirements and
gather promotional materials/literature.
• Make presentations at club meetings and classes.
3 WEEKS BEFORE BLOOD DRIVE
• Put up promotional materials such as posters informing about
the blood drive.
• Start signing up and distributing parental consent forms
& remind them to have filled out and returned ASAP.
• Begin active one-on-one recruitment.
• Send out E-mails
2 WEEKS BEFORE BLOOD DRIVE
• Contact BBA Community Coordinator with current status of
sign-ups and any other questions that arise.
• Put table-tents up in the cafeteria informing about the
blood drive.
1 WEEK BEFORE BLOOD DRIVE
• Review sign-up sheet and begin distributing appointment
reminder cards with scheduled times.
• Remind students about returning signed parental consent
forms and continue to collect them.
• Remind volunteers of arrival times and duties.
• Contact BBA Community Coordinator to discuss last-minute
details, donor schedule, and current sign-up results.
1 DAY BEFORE BLOOD DRIVE
• PA announcement to remind all students that they MUST have
signed parental consent form in order to donate.
• Reminder announcement for donors to bring Photo ID, and
to eat a good breakfast with plenty of juice & water.
• Make sure blood drive site location is cleared and ready
(tables & chairs) and/or designated parking for LIFEmobile.
DAY OF BLOOD DRIVE
• Blood Bank of Alaska staff will arrive approximately one
hour before blood drive begins in order to set-up.
• Make sure volunteers are available to help and runners can
find students if needed.
• Feel good knowing that your high school blood drive will
be a success!
