On
behalf of the Blood Bank of Alaska, I would like to take this opportunity
to express my appreciation to the students and faculty of all the
Alaskan high schools that participated in the 2010/11 Alaska High
School Challenge. The blood drives were highly successful seeing
2,334 blood donors! I thank all the donors at high schools across
the state for taking the time to donate blood and give the Gift
of Life to their fellow Alaskans.
Through the generosity of organizations and businesses
across the state, the Blood Bank of Alaska Mobile Teams held blood
drives at each of the competing high schools. Anchorage's Bartlett
High School finishing first statewide with a total 227 registered
donors. Second place honors went to Palmer High School with 127
registered donors, and Eagle River High School took third place
statewide with 97 registered donors.
The Blood Bank of Alaska is grateful for the outstanding
support we receive from students, parents, faculty and administration.
It is very rewarding for our Mobile Teams and our Community Coordinators.
You can all take console in the thought that every time a life is
saved, your kindness and dedication to your community was a part
of it.
With all of the excitement from last year's blood
drives, we look forward to this year's 2011/12 Alaska High School
Challenge! Best of luck to all the competing schools!
Thank you,
Jack L. Williams, CEO
