What is the Alaska High School Challenge?

The Blood Bank of Alaska High School Challenge is an exciting program aimed at recruiting young blood donors at local high schools and the supporting community. Statistics show that people who begin donating blood in high school are more likely to continue giving blood throughout their lifetime. The goal of the Blood Bank of Alaska - High School Challenge is to spark the interest of young donors with the hope of maintaining that commitment for years to come.

• As part of the Alaska High School Challenge, high school students can recruit community members to donate blood at any Blood Bank of Alaska center or mobile blood drive. This is a great way for athletes, alumni, family and friends to award extra credit points to their high school in support of the high school challenge!

• The Top ranked Alaska High School Challenge winners in each division will be announced on the Blood Bank of Alaska website, in local newspapers, and as a Public Service Announcement on radio and television!

The need for blood is real. The Alaska High School Challenge is an exciting program that increases awareness in the community about the importance of donating blood, helps put an end to blood shortages, and allows high schools to compete with one another for recognition of saving the most lives in Alaska!
