Blood Bank of Alaska Resumes Routine Operations Saturday December 1, 2018

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

December 1, 2018

Anchorage, AK – Due to the Alaska earthquake on Friday November 30, 2018 Blood Bank of Alaska temporarily closed collections to ensure the safety of our donors.  All facilities have passed required inspections and routine operations resumed December 1, 2018.

Thank you to the many community members that have reached out to donate and support their fellow Alaskans in the last 24 hours.  Donations will continue to be needed in the coming weeks and during the holiday season.  Please call 907-222-5630 or visit bloodbankofalaska.org to schedule an appointment to donate.

There is no substitute for blood when it is needed.  Over 15,000 Alaskans donate blood each year to help fellow community members. This generosity helps a range of patients from those fighting leukemia and other cancers to trauma victims and mothers that suffer complications during child birth.  Approximately 700 donors must donate every week to maintain the blood supply in Alaska. Blood Bank of Alaska is proudly celebrating 56 years of service helping patients in need. Save a life and donate blood, you can make a difference.
